AEKNIL was administered
intramuscularly whenever it was
found difficult to give it orally
e.g., in severe vomiting, physical
inability to swallow due to various
causes, when child refuses to feed
and when malabsorption was
suspected.
Response to the treatment was judged
as:

Good: |
When
temperature subsided
completely or was
reduced by at least 3°F.
within 12 to 24 hours of
administering the drug. |

Fair: |
When
temperature was reduced
by at least 2°F. within
24 to 48 hours of
Administering the drug. |
|
Poor: |
When there was no
reduction in pyrexia
after 48 hours
treatment. |
The
antipyretic was administered for 2
to 5 days. Results are tabulated
below:

The pyrexia
ranged from 99°
F. to 106°
F. AEKNIL was found to be of
considerable value in controlling
pyrexia in U.R.T.I, Bronchiolitis,
Bronchopneumonia, Meningitis,
Febrile and some cases of P.U.O.
The response was poor in the
miscellaneous group. |
