Pyrazolone
Derivatives:
These
groups of drugs were first
introduced in medicine in 1884.
Laterson, Greenberg (1950) and
Randall (1963) reviewed the
pharmacological effects of these
drugs.
Pharmacological effects:
-
Analgesic
-
Antipyresis
-
Anti-inflammatory
There
are certain special circumstances in
which we have to make recourse of
other specific measures because the
above mentioned therapy is not of
help.
These
are as follows:
-
Fibricytic
disease of pancreas
-
Ectodermal
dysplasia
CLINICAL TRIAL WITH
PARACETAMOL B.P
The
action of this group of drug is same
as discussed in the action of Para
Aminophenol derivatives earlier. The
dose for the antipyretic and
analgesic effect of AEKNIL used was
3mg/kg of the body weight. The route
of administration of the drug was
oral and by Injection. The effect of
the drug in various ranges of
pyrexia are summarised below:

GOOD
means when the temperature is
reduced by 3 to 4°F within 8 to 12
hours of administration of drug.
FAIR
means when the temperature was
reduced at least by 2°F within 4 to
8 hours of the administration of
drug.
CONCLUSION
From the observations done in the
Department of Pediatrics, Darbhanga
Medical College, Laheria Sarai,
Bihar, With AEKNIL DROPS and
INJECTIONS (Paracetamol) under the
guidance of Prof. B.N Das Gupta,
Professor and Head of the Department
of Pediatrics, we conclude that
AEKNIL is of considerable value
when used as an antipyretic
analgesic drug. The advantage with
this is it is free from practically
all of the side effects which other
analgesic antipyretic drugs have.
We
thank Therapeutic Pharmaceuticals
for supplying us free samples of
AEKNIL DROPS and INJECTIONS which
incorporates Paracetamol. |
